Land Rover Remapping

Defender Syndicate offers professional ECU remapping for Land Rovers at our Carnforth workshop, near Lancaster. From Td5 and Puma Defenders to Discovery and Range Rover diesels — and the BMW M57 engines we fit in our own conversions — we tune for real-world drivability, towing torque, and economy, not just a dyno number. Every engine is health-checked before it's tuned, every map is matched to the vehicle and how you use it, and because we're a workshop first, anything that needs sorting beforehand gets flagged honestly rather than papered over with boost.

What a good remap actually does

Factory maps are written for worldwide fuel quality and emissions targets, with plenty left on the table. A properly developed remap adjusts fuelling, boost, and torque limiters to give stronger mid-range pull, sharper throttle response, and — driven the same way — better economy. On a working Land Rover that tows, climbs, or carries, the difference is felt every single mile.

Engines we tune

Defender Td5 and 2.4/2.2 Puma TDCi, Discovery Td5, TDV6, and SDV6, Range Rover diesels, and the BMW M57 3.0 straight-six — the engine at the heart of our Defender and Discovery 4 conversions, which we map in-house to suit the vehicle it's fitted to. Every map is chosen for your engine's condition and how you use the vehicle.

Tuned with mechanical honesty

We're a workshop first and tuners second — we won't put big numbers through a tired clutch, a leaking intercooler hose, or worn injectors. Before remapping we health-check the engine, and if something needs sorting first we'll tell you, with parts available same or next day through our Britpart supply chain. That's why our remaps last.

Remapping for the North West

Land Rover owners come to us for remapping from Lancaster, Kendal, Windermere, Penrith, Carlisle, and across the Lake District and Cumbria. Most remaps are done same-day by appointment — combine one with a service and collect a noticeably better vehicle than you dropped off.

Frequently asked questions

Is remapping safe for my Land Rover?

On a healthy engine, with a properly developed map — yes. That's why we health-check before we tune and stay within sensible limits for the engine, gearbox, and cooling system. We tune for longevity, not bragging rights.

How much power will a Td5 or Puma remap add?

Typically a strong, usable gain in both power and torque — the exact figure depends on engine condition and the stage chosen. The bigger difference is how the vehicle drives: stronger mid-range, less gear-changing, and easier towing.

Will a remap affect my fuel economy?

Driven normally, most owners see the same or better economy, because the engine pulls higher gears with less throttle. Use all the new performance all the time and you'll use more fuel — that part is physics.

Do I need to tell my insurer about a remap?

Yes — a remap is a modification and should be declared to your insurer. Many specialist Land Rover policies accommodate it with little or no premium change.

Can you remap the M57 engine in my conversion?

Absolutely — M57 mapping is our home ground. We develop and refine our own calibrations for M57-converted Defenders and Discovery 4s, matched to the injectors, turbo, and gearbox fitted to your particular build.
