Terms & Conditions

The terms below govern all orders placed with Defender Syndicate, online or at our Carnforth workshop, and all servicing, repair, and conversion work we carry out. Please read them before ordering — placing an order or booking work with us means you accept them.

1. About us

Defender Syndicate Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17301655, whose registered office is Unit 1F Ironworks, Warton Road, Carnforth, Lancashire LA5 9EX. Phone: 0800 033 4461. Email: support@defendersyndicate.com. "We", "us", and "our" in these terms means Defender Syndicate Ltd; "you" means the customer placing an order or booking work.

2. Orders and payment

All orders placed through our website or over the phone are offers to purchase, accepted when we confirm dispatch or booking. Payment is taken in full at the time of ordering unless we have agreed other terms with you in writing. Prices include VAT where applicable; delivery charges are shown at checkout before you pay. We may cancel and refund any order affected by an obvious pricing error or where the part is no longer available.

3. Parts, product information & descriptions

We sell genuine, OEM, and quality aftermarket parts and label them as such. It is your responsibility to confirm a part fits your vehicle and is suitable for your intended purpose before ordering — we're happy to check fitment against your VIN or registration before you buy, and we strongly recommend it for anything beyond routine service items.

Part numbers are used for identification purposes only and do not imply or indicate the identity of a manufacturer. Land Rover and other manufacturer logos, model names, and trade names are used for reference and identification only, remain the property of their respective owners, and do not imply any affiliation or endorsement. Defender Syndicate is an independent supplier and is not connected with Jaguar Land Rover.

Parts are subject to stock and supply, and we reserve the right to withdraw any product at any time. Product images and colour swatches are for reference only and may differ from the item supplied; product specifications are given as a guide and may change without notice. Errors and omissions excepted (E&OE).

4. Fitting and installation

Parts must be fitted by a competent, suitably qualified person in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, specifications and correct procedures (including torque settings). For anything other than simple service items we strongly recommend professional installation.

You must check that each part is the correct item, complete and undamaged, before fitting it. Fitting a part is taken as acceptance that it is correct and satisfactory for your vehicle and purpose. A very high proportion of part failures, and of any damage caused to a vehicle, results from incorrect fitting, unsuitable use, or using the wrong part — none of which is covered by us.

5. Delivery

Delivery estimates are given in good faith but are not guaranteed. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Please inspect parts on arrival and report damage or shortages within 48 hours. Oversized items (chassis, panels, bulkheads) may be quoted and arranged separately after ordering.

6. Returns and refunds

Consumers have the right to cancel an online order within 14 days of receiving the goods and a further 14 days to return them, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Parts must be unused, unfitted, and in their original packaging; return postage is at your cost unless the part is faulty or sent in error. Electrical parts that have been fitted, special-order items, and opened gasket or seal kits can only be returned if faulty. Refunds are made to the original payment method within 14 days of us receiving the return.

7. Faulty goods and warranty

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. Parts are covered by the manufacturer's warranty where one applies. Warranty claims require proof of purchase and, for fitted parts, evidence of correct installation; warranties do not cover failure caused by misuse, competition use, incorrect fitting, or consequential damage from continued use after a fault appears.

8. Workshop, servicing, and conversion work

Estimates for workshop work are given in good faith; if we find additional faults once work begins we will contact you for approval before proceeding. Booked work may require a deposit, which is non-refundable if the vehicle is not presented. Completed work must be paid for before the vehicle is released; we may exercise a lien over vehicles until payment is made. Vehicles left with us are stored at your risk beyond our reasonable duty of care, and vehicles not collected within 14 days of completion may incur storage charges.

9. Breakdown assistance

Our breakdown support is a best-endeavours service, not a guaranteed response service like a national recovery operator. Call-out, recovery, and diagnosis are chargeable and will be quoted where practical before we attend or recover the vehicle.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded — including your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which are not affected by these terms.

Subject to that, we are not responsible for any loss or damage caused by incorrect or unprofessional fitting, misuse, modification, overloading, competition or off-road event use, fitting an incorrect or unsuitable part, or continuing to use a part after a fault has become apparent. Where such loss or damage occurs — including damage to the part itself or to other components of the vehicle — it is not covered and we accept no liability for it.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, and except where it would affect your statutory rights, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including loss of use, recovery or hire costs, lost earnings, or damage to other parts or property. Where our liability is not otherwise excluded by law, our total liability for any order, part or job will not exceed the price you paid for it.

Business and trade customers: to the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all liability for indirect and consequential loss and for the goods' fitness for any particular purpose. See our business account terms.

11. General

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. We may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page at the time of your order applies. Business customers should also read our business account terms.
